Seoul hosts Irans trade opportunities conference

During the event, which was held with the contribution of Korea International Trade Association (KITA) and some other Korean companies, merchants and businessmen of South Korea were provided with precise information about Iranian customs, investment laws, Iran’s domestic law and various essential legal issues.
It was announced by KITA website on Thursday that lifting of the sanction imposed on Iran has opened the Islamic Republic’s gate toward other countries, adding that South Korean trade activists should take advantage of the opportunities to prepare themselves to enter Iranian market.
Tehran and Seoul will sign three agreements for cooperation in energy sector along with the upcoming South Korean President Park Geun-hye’ s visit on the head of a 300-strong traders and businessmen to the Iranian capital, from May 1 to 3, a top official in Iranian Oil Ministry told the Shana news agency past Sunday.
The current volume of trade between the two countries stands at around $9 billion which is expected to be increased to well above $10 billion in the near future, Press TV reported in February.

Tehran, Baku sign MOUs on medicine, car production

Officials of Azerbaijani and Iranian relevant bodies also attended the signing ceremony, IRNA news agency reported.
The signed agreements include the MOU between Iran’s Darou Pakhsh Company, Azerbaijan Investment Company OJS, and Azersun Holding MMC on producing 52 kinds of medicine in a site near Baku and also a cooperation pact between Darou Pakhsh and Azerbaijan’s Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park MMC on establishing related production unit in the territory of Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park.
Another agreement was inked between Iranian car manufacturer Iran Khodro and Azerbaijani Azevrocar MMC on producing automobile and spare parts in Azerbaijan’s Neftchala Industrial District.
‘The signed contracts are a sign of confidence between the two countries’ private sectors and will pave the way for expansion of mutual cooperation in future,’ Vaezi who is also the Iranian co-chairman of the Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economic Committee said, underlying the vitality of removing the obstacles on boosting the trade ties between Tehran and Baku.
‘Bilateral trade volume between Iran and Azerbaijan increased by 53 percent during the first three months of 2016,’ the Iranian minister noted.
‘Iran-Azerbaijan rail bridge to develop bilateral economic ties’
During his two-day stay in Baku, Vaezi also attended the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a railway bridge over Astara river on Azerbaijan-Iran border.
The bridge is a part of the North-South international transport corridor that connects Europe to India by passing through Azerbaijan and Iran, lessening shipment time from 40 to 14 days end-to-end.
Iranian minister said that the railway bridge will play an important role for the development of economic and commercial links between Azerbaijan and Iran, especially expansion of cooperation in cargo transportation.
Mustafayev, for his part, said: ‘This railway bridge will increase cargo turnover between our countries, and will be completed by end of 2016.’
He also stressed Azerbaijan-Iran relations developed in all spheres.
He noted that political wills of their president, as well as recent mutual visits and meetings play an important role in the development of the relations.
‘Azerbaijani president’s visit to Iran on February 23 and documents signed within this visit are very significant in the development of our relations,’ the official added.

Iran, Italy to cooperate in airport construction

Italy”s Vitali SPA will construct a new terminal for Tabriz International Airport in northwestern Iran, announced Iranian Airports Company (IAC).
The IAC and Vitali signed the document for investment, design and construction of the new airport terminal during the second Iran-Italy trade meeting in Tehran, the official website of the IAC reported.
The construction of the terminal is estimated at €50 million.
The terminal, to be built in two phases, will have the capacity to concurrently serve passengers of one wide-body and two average-body aircrafts. The first phase of the terminal will be constructed over an area of 20,000 sq.m.
Iran and Italy also signed a memorandum of understanding on the transfer of technology for restructuring and modernization of airport infrastructures of Iran.
Italy”s SEA group also has signed a memorandum of understanding with IAC for the development of Mehrabad International Airport in Tehran.
Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, heading a 250-member political and economic delegation, visited Tehran on Tuesday to discuss the expansion of ties.
The two parties signed several documents on cooperation in the energy, steel, communication, aviation, airports and medical sectors.
Annual trade between the two countries amounted to €7.5 billion prior to sanctions imposed on Iran in 2012 and plummeted to €1.4 billion after the sanctions.

Iran, Netherlands ink 10 economic MOUs

Dutch Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs Martin Van den Berg and Iranian Deputy Finance and Economic Affairs Minister, who is also the president of the Organization for Investment, Economic, and Technical Assistance of Iran, Mohammad Khazaei, signed 10 agreements in various economic fields in a meeting in Tehran, IRNA reported on Wednesday.
The signed contracts seek to improve future bilateral cooperation in energy, finance, banking and insurance, as well as transportation, health and water management besides finalizing economic agreements and exchanging experiences and data in different fields.
Reviewing the latest situation for economic cooperation in the joint meeting, Van den Berg referred to the existing investment opportunities and capacities in Iran and underlined expansion of bilateral cooperation.
Trade exchange level between the two countries stood at $650 million in the past Iranian calendar year of 1394 (ended on March 19, 2016), while Iran”s imports of the European country was more than $600 million and exports to that destination was around $40 million.
Last November, Iran and Netherlands signed an MOU on bilateral cooperation in different agricultural areas. The agreement was penned by Iran”s Agriculture Minister Mahmoud Hojjati and the Netherlands” Minister of Economic Affairs Henk Kamp in Tehran.
In the ceremony for signing the MOU, Hojjati expressed hope that Iran”s nuclear deal with the world”s major powers will lead to the expansion of its trade ties with the Netherlands.
A new chapter has opened in the political and economic ties between Iran and the Netherlands after Iran”s nuclear deal.

Iran, Netherlands sign Memoranda of Understanding

Deputy Foreign Minister for economic affairs of the Netherlands Martin Van den Berg in a meeting with Deputy Economic and Finance Minister Mohammad Khazaei signed Memoranda of Understanding in more than 10 fields here on Wednesday.
In the meeting, the two sides considered the latest situation for economic cooperation.
The Dutch side by referring to the existing investment opportunities and capacities in Iran underlined expansion of bilateral cooperation.
The most important issues in Memoranda of Understanding were “energy, financial, banking and insurance cooperation, finalizing economic agreements, cooperation in transportation, including airport and port development, management of agricultural water resources, health and exchanging experiences and data in different fields.
Martin Van den Berg had already met with Head of Trade Promotion Organization Valiollah Afkhamirad on Wednesday.
Trade exchange level between the two countries was 650 million dollars last year (1394), more than 600 million dollars of which was Iranian import and around 40 million dollars of that was Iran”s export to the Netherlands.
