Britain restarts issuing visa for Iranians

Consular section of British embassy in Iran started its routine activities, including visa issuance following agreements between the two countries. British embassy was closed nearly 6 years ago following presence of some Iranian protestors inside the building. It was reopened officially after 4 years after British foreign secretary visited Iran but the consulate did not issue visa. Iranian consular section in British embassy has been providing wide-range services to the customers since February 2014. Following Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif”s recent visit to Britain 3 weeks ago, there have been talks between the two sides when they agreed on starting activities of British consular section in Tehran, including visa issuance. The activities of the consular section would start on February 24.

67-strong Singaporean trade delegation to visit Iran on Friday

A 67-strong trade delegation, representing Singapore Business Federation (SBF), would arrive in Tehran on February 26 to discuss ways of facilitating trade and investment with Iranian officials and business firms.
Singaporean Minister of Trade and Industry S. Iswaran and also Teo Siong Seng, the chairman of SBF, would lead the delegation, the IRNA news agency quoted Iranian Ambassador to Singapore Javad Ansari as saying on Tuesday.
During the trip, Ansari said, Iswaran is slated to sign an agreement for support of investment with Iranian Finance and Economic Affairs Minister Ali Tayyebnia.
Iswaran is also scheduled to attend the conference of two countries” business firms, together with meeting Iranian Industry, Mining, and Trade Minister Mohammad Reza Ne”matzadeh.
Ansari said the members of SBF delegation are mainly active in oil and gas, petrochemical, transport and logistic industries, as well as hotel construction and information technology (IT).
Meanwhile, on February 28, up to 30 managers of Singaporean oil and gas firms are due to visit petrochemical, shipping and ports facilities in the port city of Bandar Abbas.
In this regard, SBF chief executive Ho Meng Kit said many local businesses in Singapore which had lost contact with Iran”s market are keen to re-establish old contacts and make new ones.
He said the increased optimism and interest from the local business community in getting a first-hand update of Iranian market has prompted the chamber to organize the trip again this year.
Following the implementation of Iran”s nuclear agreement with world major powers, Singapore canceled its prohibition on transactions with the Iranian government and financial institutions On January 28.
Singapore is a major oil trading and refining hub with a refining capacity of about 1.3 million barrels per day while its oil industry makes up 5% of its GDP.
The city state is also the world”s top bunker fuel market by volume and relied on Iran for 6% of its total fuel oil imports between 2007 and 2011.
Singapore imported 1.8 million tons of Iranian condensates between July 2006 and May 2012, as well as 944,000 tons of Iranian crude oil between August 2006 and April 2012, IE Singapore data showed.

Italy”s Finergy to build 3 solar power plants in Iran

The Italian company, Finergy S.R.L, has agreed to fund and construct three solar power plants with a total capacity of 10 megawatts (MW) in the Iranian cities of Kerman, Yazd, and Shiraz.
The decision was made during a recent meeting held in Tehran between the top managers of Finergy and senior Iranian officials from the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energy Organization, the Tasnim news agency reported on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, more negotiations are underway on Iran”s use of Finergy”s experiences in the fields of biomass and plasma technology.
According to Iranian Deputy Energy Minister Houshang Falahatian, in the course of next ten years, Iran aims to generate as much as 50,000 MW of electricity, ten percent of which is slated to be generated from renewable sources.
To meet the ten-year target of 50,000 MW, he said, 50 new power plants are planned to be constructed.
He put the current total electricity generation capacity of solar and wind power plants at 250 MW, saying this figure would increase 20-fold over the next ten years.
According to the officials, Iran has the potentiality to generate 40,000 MW of electricity from solar and wind resources.

54-strong Bulgarian economic delegation to visit Iran in mid-March

A 54-strong Bulgarian economic delegation, headed by the country”s Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova, would travel to Iran in the second half of the current Iranian month of Esfand (March 5 – March 20), according to Christo Polendakov, the Bulgarian ambassador to Tehran.
Polendakov made the remarks in his meeting with Abolfazl Rahnama, the director general of European and American Affairs Department at Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA), the official website of the ICCIMA reported on Saturday.
The Bulgarian trade delegation would comprise representatives of 54 major companies active in the fields of electricity, transportation, agriculture, water management and railroads development, according to Polendakov.
The companies, he said, are keen to find business partners and investment opportunities in Iran.
Polendakov added that establishing economic ties with Iran”s private sector is the main objective of the Bulgarian trade delegation.
In December 2015, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov said Iran can potentially be a gateway for Bulgarian goods to find their way into more markets.
He referred to energy cooperation and the development of transport corridors as a starting point for bilateral economic collaboration.
Foreign business delegations have flocked to Tehran since the United States, European Union and United Nations lifted international sanctions last month after reaching a deal over Iran”s nuclear program.

Swiss president to lead trade mission to Iran on Feb. 26

A Swiss trade delegation, led by the country’s President Johann Schneider-Ammann, would visit Iran on February 26 and 27, according to the official website of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA).
The delegation consists of 38 major Swiss companies, operating in a broad range of fields such as maritime transportation, steel industry, and also aviation, banking, tourism and automobile sectors.
Manufacturers of medical, cosmetics and pharmaceutical products, as well as gas turbines, nuclear reactors and railway equipments are also among the members of the delegation.
The Swiss Federal Council officially lifted Switzerland’s sanctions against Iran in August 2015.
Iran hosted 145 trade delegations from 47 countries during the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-December 21, 2015), an official with the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran said on January 2.
Iran’s nuclear agreement with the world’s major powers, reached last month, opened the door for reintegration of the country into the global economy. In this regard, renewed optimism about the potential of the Iranian economy has already generated a flurry of investment interest by foreign companies.
