Iran, Germany mull joint dairy production
2016/Apr/12

Iran held negotiations with German companies on the joint production of dairy products, an official announced. Speaking to Tasnim News Agency on Monday, Iran”s Deputy Agriculture Minister Hassan Rokni said a number of agreements were signed to this effect with German enterprises at a Sunday meeting on veterinary medicine. He also expressed the hope that joint investment with Germany will pave the way for the country”s stronger presence in export markets. Based on the negotiations with German companies, Iran can undertake joint production of dairy products, chicken and eggs, and export them under European brand names, he noted. Pointing to the opportunities for Iran to export dairy products, Rokni said Iran”s neighboring countries are importers of such produce. Iran exported 600,000 tons of dairy products in the year to March 19, he noted. Last month, Iranian Agriculture Minister Mahmoud Hojjati and his German counterpart Christian Schmidt signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Berlin to enhance cooperation between the two countries in various spheres of agriculture, including research, education and agribusiness.

MOU on veterinary health inked between Iran, Germany
2016/Apr/11

“Iran and Germany signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in the field of veterinary health and medicine,” Iranian Agriculture Minister Mahmoud Hojjati told reporters on the sidelines of his meeting with the visiting German economic delegation in Tehran on Sunday. “A special task force, comprised of Iranian and German officials is formed to vet expansion of further mutual agricultural cooperation,” the Tasnim news agency quoted Hojjati as saying. An economic delegation including 20 top German officials headed by the country”s Agriculture Minister Christian Schmidt arrived in Tehran on Sunday to confer bilateral agricultural cooperation and in particular future joint agro-venture during a two-day visit. Germany has expressed eagerness to revive its joint bilateral relation in various economic areas with Iran as of the Asian country signed its nuclear deal, known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), with P5+1 in June, 2015. The agreement, which led in removal of unfair anti-Iranian financial sanctions during the past months, has triggered many European countries, including Germany as one of the most prominent European economic powers, to compete for finding even a small share in the booming Iranian market. During the past months, Iranian and German officials as well as businessmen have visited each other”s countries to investigate warmer future relations in different fields

Iran says Boeing team coming to Tehran
2016/Apr/10

Iran says a top-level delegation from global aviation giant Boeing will arrive in the country within the next days to discuss potential areas of cooperation with Iranian companies. The country”s flag-carrier airline Iran Air has announced in a statement that it will host Boeing for its upcoming trade talks in Tehran. A main topic in the agenda of discussions will be supporting the current Iran Air fleet, the airline said. Several other Iranian airlines will also hold talks with the aviation giant, it added without providing an exact timetable on its arrival and the planned talks. Ali Abedzadeh, the president of Iran Civil Aviation Organization (CAO), said last month that talks between Iran Air and Boeing over the purchase of new planes are continuing, stressing that a deal with the American aviation giant is “very likely” to be sealed. Abedzadeh added that several other domestic aviation companies are also engaged in talks with Boeing to purchase planes. The media in late January quoted a top Iranian official in a report as saying that the country plans to purchase over 100 planes from Boeing. The same report said that Iran”s order list from the American aviation giant included narrow-body 737s for domestic flights and two-aisle 777s for long-haul routes. In January, Iran signed a major deal worth over $27 billion for the purchase of 118 planes from Airbus. The deal – which is yet to be finalized – was signed during a landmark trip to Paris by Iran”s President Hassan Rouhani. Iran”s Transport Minister Abbas Akhoundi said in January that Airbus”s first deliveries to flag carrier Iran Air are due as early as July. Iranian officials have already emphasized that the country will need to buy 500 commercial jets of various models for various short-, medium- and long-distance routes. According to Minister Akhoundi, Iran”s current civil aviation fleet consists of 248 aircraft with an average age of 20 years, of which 100 are in storage.
