Christof Group, an Austrian industrial holding, is willing to transfer its technology to Iran”s petrochemical industry, said Johann Christof, the CEO of the company.
According to the Shana news agency, the directors of Christof Group and Iran”s National Petrochemical Company (NPC) met in Tehran on February 9 where the Austrian company announced its readiness to participate in development, design and construction of Iranian petrochemical facilities.
Christof stated that there are no boundaries in their collaboration with Iranian petrochemical companies, now that sanctions against the Islamic Republic are being removed.
Meanwhile, WirtschaftsBlatt, Austrian daily newspaper, reported Christof as saying that his company is planning to expand to Iran, noting that Austrian companies have a good reputation in Iran which paves the way for further cooperation.
Christof announced that his company would accompany an Austrian trade delegation who is set to travel to Iran in early September to spot the business opportunities in the country.
On January 30, Marzieh Shahdaie, the managing director of NPC, said the Iranian petrochemical sector should attract $8-10 billion finance per annum mainly through foreign direct investment.
According to Shahdaie, foreign companies mainly from Europe and East Asia are seeking to make investment in the implementation of Iranian petrochemical projects now that the sanctions are removed against the country.

Ireland to tap into trade opportunity in Iran
2016/feb/13

|
Enterprise Ireland is planning two separate market visits to Iran in the coming months as it looks to tap into the year”s largest trade opportunity.
The Irish state economic development agency has put plans in motion for two separate visits to the €360 billion Middle Eastern marketplace in the first half of the year, The Irish Examiner reported.
The visits will center on promoting Irish interests in the areas of healthcare, information technology, and communications (ICT).
Those visits will follow preparatory work carried out by Enterprise Ireland in advance of sanctions being lifted last month, according to Enterprise Ireland Middle East and North America regional director Sean Davis.
“We did some exploratory visits in 2015 assessing market opportunities for client companies in Iran,” said Davis.
“Some of those areas identified included healthcare, financial technology, and agricultural technology. Of course, any activities we engaged in were subject to sanctions being lifted, a significant phase of which was finalized on January 16, 2016.”
Shortly after sanctions were lifted, EI held an Iran healthcare seminar in Dubai.
“That seminar was given by our Iran honorary consul general and two Tehran-based managing directors,” said Davis.
“It was well received by clients and hence we are moving to the next phase with healthcare, which is a market visit to Iran during Iran Health International Exhibition in May 2016.”
Enterprise Ireland staff also visited Tehran to explore ICT and technology opportunities for client companies.
That work will be followed in March by a forum to be held in Dublin and a subsequent market visit to Iran before the second half of the year.
Davis also said that Enterprise Ireland”s agricultural technology plan is less developed as it plans on using a major conference in Dubai later this year as a launch pad for the sector.
It has, however, been developing agro-tech in the Persian Gulf states for the past four years, he added.
State agencies such as Enterprise Ireland and Bord Bia came under fire earlier this week by Irish Exporters Association chief executive Simon McKeever, who said they had been slow to make inroads into the Iranian market.
McKeever said Ireland was the only country in the EU without a trade mission in the country and also called for the reopening of the Irish embassy.

Iran says Russia has unique opportunity to invest in tourism, agriculture
2016/feb/13

The recent lifting of the sanctions imposed by world powers against Tehran and its reemergence on to the global market provides a great opportunity for Moscow to invest in Iranian industries, including tourism and agriculture, the adviser to the president of the Organization for Investment and Economic and Technical Assistance of Iran at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance said on Wednesday.
“It is a unique historic opportunity [for Russia] to rush to our emerging market. This is a once in 20 year opportunity,” Kourosh Taherfar said at a press conference in Moscow, sputniknews.com said.
Taherfar added that Moscow would benefit the most from investing in tourism and agriculture, as well as in road railways construction, oil storage and petrochemical products.
The International Atomic Energy Agency”s positive assessment of Tehran”s compliance with the terms of the nuclear deal reached with six world powers in mid-January led to the immediate lifting of UN and EU sanctions, as well as partial sanctions relief by the United States, opening the way for Iran”s return to the global market

Iran eyeing joint food exports with Italy
2016/feb/13
|

|
Iran said on Tuesday that it sees a huge potential in cooperating with Italy over exports of food products to not only the markets of the region but also to Russia.
The announcement was made by Masoud Khansari, the president of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, in a meeting with the visiting Italian Minister for Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policy Maurizio Martina.
Khansari told Martina that the value of supplies of food to Russia as well as the regional markets in 2015 stood at $108 billion. He emphasized that a major share of such supplies can be jointly provided by Iran and Italy, IRNA reported.
The official further said that Italy was Iran”s top European trade partner throughout the years when the Islamic Republic was under sanctions.
He added that Iran hopes the economic contracts that were signed during a recent visit by President Hassan Rouhani to Italy would be implemented to promote the level of trade between the two countries.
Martina is visiting Iran together with a major delegation comprising 310 Italian entrepreneurs and officials. Earlier on Tuesday, Iran and Italy signed a number of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for cooperation in areas of energy, transportation and trade expos.
On a related front, IRNA has quoted Riccardo Monti, the president of the Italian Trade Agency, as saying that the Italian market is open to Iranian products.
Monti added that reopening of the Iranian market is a unique opportunity for business, which will be beneficial to both nations.
The value of Iran”s exports to Italy stood at €1 billion in 2015.
Last month, Iran”s President Hassan Rouhani visited Italy, where the two countries signed several contracts, worth up to €17 billion, covering various sectors including health, transportation, agriculture and energy.

Japan to start financing Iran"s mining projects
2016/feb/10
|
|
|
Deputy Minister of Industries, Mines and Trade Mehdi Karbasian in a meeting with a Japanese delegation on Tuesday in Tehran said major Japanese enterprises have expressed their readiness to finance and participate in Iran"s various mining projects.
"Employing modern technology that would lead to less energy consumption is one of the planned principles of Iran”s mining industries that will be seriously pursued by Iranian Mines & Mining Industries Development & Renovation (IMIDRO)," he said, Mehr News Agency reported on Tuesday.
“For the implementation of the projects, separate meetings should be held so that desired objectives for cooperation could be realized. Meanwhile, cooperating on projects related to infrastructure such as construction of specific ports for energy-intensive industries is another way the two sides can participate,” he added.
In the meeting, the representatives from Japan”s Ministry of Energy, Industry, Mine and Trade said the agreements of the companies participating in Iran”s project are supported by Japan”s government and necessary funding and modern technologies will be provided.
Noting that the implementation of the nuclear deal has changed the situation, they expressed readiness for expanding cooperation with Iran on banking, modern technology, machinery, research and development, as well as water and environment.
